Alex Santos Y Su Orquesta

Alex Santos Y Su Orquesta, a Latin take on the already existing Alex Santos Orchestra is a project inspired by Alex’s love of Jazz and Latin Music.  In 2015, he envisioned a Jazz night where musicians had jam sessions and paid tribute to jazz legends; and deejays came out and spun jazz from their collections.  The house band he assembled for these club nights and sessions was Groovin’ High.

In 2019 the band started going through some changes and incorporating more Latin influences in their music. Twenty twenty saw a name shift to The Alex Santos Orchestra and the release of “Nautilus” / “Red clay” 7” on Dig Find Sample Repeat records. This catapulted them to almost legendary status amongst the Hip Hop sampling world.

For his sophomore release, Alex worked with producer L.P Correa in paying tribute to other legends in the Latin diaspora. Because of the Latin lean, he decided to translate the name to Alex Santos Y Su Orquesta . The recordings on this 7” vinyl release are a look back with an eye forward to the new generation of musicians.

Side A is a homage to Luis Santi and his explosive groove, “Los Feligreses” reimagined with a new arrangement that drives that funky Latin groove home.

Side B is Tempo 70’s “El Galleton” with its upbeat and eruptive tropical funky rhythm that lends a sense of urgency to this party anthem.
